Korrespondent i Federatës Memoriale të NATO-s për Kosovë

Në emrin tim, në emër të shumë aktivistëve dhe, besoj, të miliona shqiptarëve kudo që jetojnë, bëj këtë apel me respekt, por edhe me bindjen e thellë se heshtja në momente të caktuara nuk është gjithmonë drejtësi.

I drejtohem Presidentit të Shteteve të Bashkuara të Amerikës, Sh.T. Donald J. Trump, institucioneve amerikane me ndikim dhe përgjegjësi, por edhe institucioneve relevante evropiane dhe ndërkombëtare:

JU LUTEM, MOS LEJONI QË HISTORIA E LUFTËS ÇLIRIMTARE TË KOSOVËS TË PËRFUNDOJË E RISHKRUAR PËRMES NJË PROCESI QË LË SHUMË PYETJE TË HAPURA.

Nuk kërkoj ndikim politik mbi drejtësinë.
Nuk kërkoj privilegj për askënd.
Nuk kërkoj që ligji të anashkalohet.

Kërkoj vetëm drejtësi të plotë, të pavarur, të paanshme dhe të pandikuar nga interesa politike apo gjeostrategjike.

Që nga fillimi i këtij procesi, kam shprehur shqetësimin tim se një pjesë e materialeve dhe narrativave të përdorura kundër krerëve të UÇK-së duhet të shqyrtohen me standardin më të lartë të provave, veçanërisht kur ekzistojnë pretendime dhe dyshime për burime të lidhura me strukturat e inteligjencës serbe dhe ruse dhe me përpjekjet historike për të delegjitimuar luftën çlirimtare të shqiptarëve të Kosovës.

Nëse ka prova të pakundërshtueshme, drejtësia duhet të flasë.

Por nëse ka manipulime, fabrikime, dëshmi të komprometuara apo ndikime të jashtme, edhe ato duhet të dalin në dritë.

Sepse këtu nuk kemi të bëjmë vetëm me fatin personal të disa individëve.

Kemi të bëjmë me kujtesën historike të Kosovës, me dinjitetin e një populli, me të vërtetën për luftën e UÇK-së dhe me kredibilitetin e shtetit të Kosovës.

UÇK-ja nuk ishte një projekt kundër Perëndimit.
Përkundrazi.

UÇK-ja dhe populli i Kosovës luftuan për liri, demokraci dhe për një të ardhme evropiane e euroatlantike.

Në orët më të vështira të historisë sonë, Kosova nuk e gjeti shpëtimin te Moska, Beogradi apo regjimet autoritare.
E gjeti te Perëndimi.
E gjeti te Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës.
E gjeti te NATO-ja.

Prandaj, sot, nga Kosova, i drejtohem Presidentit Trump:

ZOTI PRESIDENT TRUMP, MOS LEJONI QË DREJTËSIA TË PËRDORET PËR TË RISHKRUAR HISTORINË!

Nëse gjykata duhet të vendosë, le të vendosë mbi bazën e provave të pakontestueshme dhe të standardeve më të larta të drejtësisë.

Por mos lejoni që propaganda, manipulimi, dezinformimi apo ndikimi i shërbimeve të huaja të shndërrohen në të vërtetë juridike.

Kosova ka qenë dhe mbetet një nga vendet më pro-amerikane në Evropë.

Populli i Kosovës nuk e ka harruar kurrë kush qëndroi pranë tij në ditët më të errëta.

Ne nuk kërkojmë drejtësi amerikane.
Ne kërkojmë që drejtësia të jetë aq e fortë sa të mos mund të manipulohet nga askush.

Dhe nëse Shtetet e Bashkuara besojnë se Kosova është pjesë e pandashme e botës demokratike, atëherë është në interesin e SHBA-së dhe të gjithë Perëndimit që e vërteta historike të mbrohet nga çdo përpjekje për falsifikim.

Kosova nuk duhet të lejohet të kthehet në një terren ku ndikimi serbo-rus tenton të fitojë atë që nuk mundi ta fitojë në fushën e betejës.

Prandaj ky është apeli im:

President Trump, përdorni peshën diplomatike dhe morale të Shteteve të Bashkuara për të kërkuar drejtësi të vërtetë, transparencë të plotë dhe shqyrtim rigoroz të çdo prove dhe çdo burimi.

Mos lejoni që bijtë e Kosovës që luftuan për lirinë e vendit të gjykohen mbi bazën e propagandës së armiqve të saj.

Le të fitojë e vërteta.
Le të fitojë drejtësia.
Le të fitojë historia.

Sepse një Kosovë e lirë, demokratike, pro-amerikane dhe pro-perëndimore është në interesin strategjik jo vetëm të shqiptarëve, por edhe të Shteteve të Bashkuara dhe të gjithë botës euroatlantike.

Dhe unë besoj se një Kosovë e tillë mund të jetë, për SHBA-në, një pikë e fortë e demokracisë dhe partneritetit amerikan në Ballkan një urë e qëndrueshme amerikane në një rajon ku ndikimet armiqësore ende përpiqen të zgjerojnë hapësirën e tyre.

ZOTI PRESIDENT TRUMP, JU LUTEM, VEPRONI JO KUNDËR DREJTËSISË, POR PËR DREJTËSINË.

KOSOVA NUK KËRKON PRIVILEGJ.
KOSOVA KËRKON TË VËRTETËN.

PUBLIC APPEAL TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, H.E. DONALD J. TRUMP, AND TO AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

On behalf of myself, many activists, and, I believe, millions of Albanians wherever they live, I make this appeal with respect, but also with the deep conviction that there are moments in history when silence is not enough.

I appeal to the President of the United States,
H.E. Donald J. Trump, to influential American institutions, and to relevant European and international institutions:

PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THE HISTORY OF KOSOVO’S LIBERATION WAR TO BE REWRITTEN THROUGH A PROCESS THAT LEAVES SERIOUS QUESTIONS UNANSWERED.

I am not asking for political interference in justice.
I am not asking for privileges for anyone.
I am not asking for the law to be bypassed.
I am asking for nothing more — and nothing less than full, independent, impartial and evidence-based justice, free from political or geopolitical influence.

From the beginning of this process, I have expressed my concern that the evidence and narratives presented against the former leaders of the KLA must be examined according to the highest possible standards, particularly where allegations exist concerning sources connected to Serbian and Russian intelligence structures and historical efforts to delegitimize the liberation struggle of the people of Kosovo.
If there is irrefutable evidence, justice must speak.

But if there has been manipulation, fabrication, compromised testimony or external interference, those matters must also be brought into the light.

Because this is not merely about the fate of several individuals.

It concerns Kosovo’s historical memory, the dignity of its people, the truth about the KLA’s struggle, and the credibility of the Republic of Kosovo.

The KLA was not a project against the West.
The people of Kosovo fought for freedom, democracy and a European and Euro-Atlantic future.

At the darkest moments of our history, Kosovo did not find salvation in Moscow, Belgrade or authoritarian regimes.

We found it in the West.
We found it in the United States of America.
We found it in NATO.

Therefore, today, from Kosovo, I appeal directly to President Trump:

MR. PRESIDENT, DO NOT ALLOW JUSTICE TO BE USED TO REWRITE HISTORY.

If the court must decide, let it decide on the basis of compelling evidence and the highest standards of justice.

But do not allow propaganda, manipulation, disinformation or the influence of foreign intelligence services to become a substitute for historical and judicial truth.

Kosovo remains one of the most strongly pro-American societies in Europe.

The people of Kosovo have never forgotten who stood beside them during their darkest days.
We are not asking for American justice.
We are asking for justice strong enough that no one can manipulate it.

If the United States believes that Kosovo belongs firmly within the democratic world, then it is in the interest of both America and the entire Euro-Atlantic community that historical truth be protected against every attempt at distortion.

Kosovo must not become a place where Serbian-Russian influence achieves through political and informational pressure what it failed to achieve on the battlefield.

Therefore, this is my appeal:

President Trump, use the diplomatic and moral weight of the United States to call for genuine justice, complete transparency, and the most rigorous possible examination of every piece of evidence and every source.

Do not allow the sons of Kosovo who fought for the freedom of their country to be judged on the basis of the propaganda of those who opposed Kosovo’s freedom.

Let truth prevail.
Let justice prevail.
Let history prevail.

Because a free, democratic, pro-American and pro-Western Kosovo is not only in the interest of Albanians. It is also in the strategic interest of the United States and the entire Euro-Atlantic community.

And I believe that such a Kosovo can remain a strong pillar of American partnership and democratic values in the Balkans a stable bridge of American influence in a region where hostile powers continue to seek greater space.

MR. PRESIDENT, PLEASE ACT NOT AGAINST JUSTICE, BUT FOR JUSTICE.

KOSOVO IS NOT ASKING FOR PRIVILEGE.
KOSOVO IS ASKING FOR THE TRUTH.
