Kosova ndodhet përpara një momenti që kërkon pjekuri politike, përgjegjësi shtetërore dhe vizion përtej interesave të ditës.

Në momente të tilla, historia nuk i gjykon liderët vetëm nga mënyra se si mbrojtën interesat e partive të tyre, por nga mënyra se si ditën ta mbrojnë interesin e shtetit.

Prandaj, në debatin për Presidentin e ardhshëm të Republikës së Kosovës, besoj se duhet të shtrojmë një pyetje shumë më të rëndësishme se:

“Kush fiton politikisht?”

Pyetja duhet të jetë:

“Kush i shërben më së miri Kosovës në këtë moment?”

Duke i njohur realitetet politike, kalkulimet partiake dhe interesat që natyrshëm ekzistojnë ndërmjet subjekteve politike, nuk kam asnjë iluzion se rruga drejt një konsensusi është e lehtë.

Por pikërisht për këtë arsye duhet të kërkojmë një figurë që mund të jetë mbi ndarjet partiake.

Në këtë kontekst, unë besoj se z. Bekim Sejdiu duhet të merret shumë seriozisht në konsideratë si kandidat për një President konsensual të Republikës së Kosovës.

Këtë qëndrim nuk e shpreh nga larg.

Kam pasur mundësinë ta njoh personalisht dhe të zhvilloj biseda me të gjatë kohës kur shërbente si Konsull i Republikës së Kosovës në New York, SHBA.

Përshtypja ime ka qenë e qartë: përgatitje profesionale, kulturë diplomatike, maturi në komunikim, respekt institucional dhe një kuptim i rëndësisë së marrëdhënieve ndërkombëtare.

Dhe sot, Kosova ka nevojë pikërisht për këto cilësi.

Presidenti i Kosovës nuk është thjesht një post.

Presidenti është fytyra kushtetuese dhe diplomatike e shtetit.

Ai duhet të jetë në gjendje të ulet në të njëjtën tavolinë me Washingtonin, Londrën, Brukselin dhe partnerët tanë të sigurisë; të dëgjohet me respekt; të krijojë besim; të ndërtojë ura dhe, kur është e nevojshme, të mbrojë me vendosmëri interesat e Republikës së Kosovës.

Sot, për fat të keq, imazhi ndërkombëtar i Kosovës nuk është në nivelin që duhet të jetë.

Në një kohë kur rendi gjeopolitik po ndryshon me shpejtësi, kur siguria evropiane është nën presion dhe kur partneriteti me SHBA-në, NATO-n, Mbretërinë e Bashkuar dhe BE-në është jetik për të ardhmen e Kosovës, ne nuk mund të lejojmë që krizat tona të brendshme institucionale të dobësojnë pozicionin tonë ndërkombëtar.

Prandaj, duhet të mendojmë si shtet.

Jam i vetëdijshëm edhe për mundësinë e ekzistimit të marrëveshjeve apo mirëkuptimeve paraprake ndërmjet liderëve politikë. Nëse ekzistojnë, ato janë pjesë e realitetit politik dhe duhen respektuar me përgjegjësi.

Por asnjë marrëveshje politike nuk duhet të jetë më e rëndësishme se interesi i Republikës së Kosovës.

Nëse ekziston një kandidat që mund të krijojë një urë ndërmjet pozitës dhe opozitës, ndërmjet institucioneve dhe shoqërisë, ndërmjet politikës së brendshme dhe partnerëve strategjikë ndërkombëtarë, atëherë ai opsion nuk duhet të refuzohet vetëm sepse nuk i përshtatet kalkulimit të një partie.

Kosova nuk ka nevojë për një President të një partie.

Kosova ka nevojë për një President të Republikës.

Dhe unë shpresoj fuqishëm që në këtë moment të rëndësishëm të ketë edhe një vlerësim të kujdesshëm dhe diskret nga partnerët tanë strategjikë, veçanërisht nga Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës, Mbretëria e Bashkuar dhe NATO/KFOR, sepse stabiliteti institucional i Kosovës është i lidhur drejtpërdrejt me stabilitetin dhe sigurinë euro-atlantike.

Nuk bëhet fjalë për ndërhyrje në politikën e brendshme të Kosovës.

Bëhet fjalë për një realitet të thjeshtë:

Kosova është aleate dhe partnere e botës euro-atlantike, dhe stabiliteti i saj institucional është me rëndësi edhe për partnerët që kanë investuar aq shumë në lirinë, sigurinë dhe shtetësinë e saj.
Në fund, vendimin duhet ta marrin institucionet dhe përfaqësuesit e zgjedhur të Republikës së Kosovës.

Por vendimi duhet të merret me vizion shtetëror, jo me frikë politike.

Në këtë moment, Kosova ka nevojë për një President që:

bashkon, jo përçan;
përfaqëson, jo polarizon;
negocion, pa u dorëzuar;
dëgjon partnerët, por mbron interesin e shtetit;
e forcon, jo e dobëson, orientimin euro-atlantik.
Bekim Sejdiu mund të jetë një mundësi e tillë.

Le ta shqyrtojmë me seriozitet.

Jo për Bekim Sejdiun si individ.

Jo për VV-në.

Jo për LDK-në.

Jo për asnjë parti tjetër.

Por për Kosovën.

Sepse në fund të çdo mandati politik, partitë ndryshojnë, liderët ndryshojnë dhe koalicionet ndryshojnë.

Shteti mbetet.

Dhe kur vendosim për Presidentin e Republikës, duhet të pyesim veten vetëm një gjë:

ÇFARË ËSHTË MË E MIRA PËR KOSOVËN?
Kosova mbi politikën.
Shteti mbi partinë.
Institucionet mbi kalkulimet.
Aleancat strategjike mbi izolimin.
E ardhmja mbi interesin e momentit.

KOSOVA DHE SHBA PARTNERITET, BESIM DHE MIQËSI PËR NJË TË ARDHME EURO-ATLANTIKE.

BEKIM SEJDIU A CHOICE FOR THE STATE, NOT A COMPROMISE BETWEEN PARTIES

Kosova is facing a moment that requires political maturity, statesmanship and a vision that rises above the interests of the day.

At moments like this, history does not judge political leaders merely by how well they protected the interests of their parties, but by whether they had the courage and wisdom to protect the interests of the state.

Therefore, in the discussion over the next President of the Republic of Kosova, I believe we should ask a question far more important than:

“Who wins politically?”

The real question should be:

“Who can serve Kosova best at this particular moment?”

I fully understand the political realities, party calculations and legitimate interests that exist among political actors. I have no illusion that reaching consensus will be easy.

But precisely for that reason, we should seek a figure capable of standing above party divisions.
In this context, I believe that Mr. Bekim Sejdiu deserves to be seriously considered as a candidate for a consensus President of the Republic of Kosova.

I do not express this view from a distance.

I had the opportunity to know him personally and to have excellent conversations with him during his service as Consul of the Republic of Kosova in New York, United States.

My impression was clear: professional preparation, diplomatic culture, maturity in communication, institutional respect and a strong understanding of the importance of international relations.

And today, Kosova needs precisely these qualities.

The President of Kosova is not simply a position.

The President is the constitutional and diplomatic face of the state.

The President must be able to sit at the same table with Washington, London, Brussels and our security partners; to be heard with respect; to build trust; to create bridges; and, when necessary, to defend the interests of the Republic of Kosova with determination.

Unfortunately, Kosova’s international image is not currently at the level it should be.

At a time when the geopolitical order is changing rapidly, European security is under pressure, and our partnership with the United States, NATO, the United Kingdom and the European Union remains vital to Kosova’s future, we cannot allow internal institutional crises to weaken our international position.

Therefore, we must think as a state.

I am also aware that prior political agreements or understandings may exist among political leaders. If such understandings exist, they are part of the political reality and should be treated responsibly.

But no political agreement should ever be more important than the interests of the Republic of Kosova.

If there is a candidate capable of building a bridge between government and opposition, between institutions and society, and between domestic politics and our strategic international partners, that option should not be rejected simply because it does not fit the calculations of one political party.

Kosova does not need a President of one political party.

Kosova needs a President of the Republic.
And I sincerely hope that, at this important moment, there is also a careful and discreet assessment by our strategic partners, particularly the United States of America, the United Kingdom and NATO/KFOR, because the institutional stability of Kosova is directly connected to the broader Euro-Atlantic security environment.

This is not about foreign interference in Kosova’s domestic politics.
It is about a simple reality:

Kosova is a partner and ally of the Euro-Atlantic community, and its institutional stability also matters to those partners who have invested so much in its freedom, security and statehood.

Ultimately, the decision must be made by the institutions and elected representatives of the Republic of Kosova.

But that decision must be made with statesmanship, not political fear.

At this moment, Kosova needs a President who:
unites rather than divides;

represents rather than polarizes;
negotiates without surrendering;
listens to partners while defending the interests of the state;
strengthens rather than weakens Kosova’s Euro-Atlantic orientation.

Bekim Sejdiu could be such an opportunity.
Let us consider it seriously.
Not for Bekim Sejdiu as an individual.

Not for VV.

Not for LDK.

Not for any other political party.

But for Kosova.

Because at the end of every political mandate, parties change, leaders change and coalitions change.

The state remains.

And when we choose the President of the Republic, we should ask ourselves only one question:

WHAT IS BEST FOR KOSOVA?

Kosova above politics.
The state above the party.
Institutions above calculations.
Strategic alliances above isolation.
The future above short-term interests.

KOSOVA AND THE UNITED STATES PARTNERSHIP, TRUST AND FRIENDSHIP FOR A STRONG EURO-ATLANTIC FUTURE.
